Past VIP Outings
Our VIP, Justin has a lot to celebrate! He graduated high school this month and will be headed to Texas A&M to major in biology! While in high school he was also kicking leukemia’s butt and never let it deter him from accomplishing his dreams. He has been cancer free since September 2018! To celebrate, Justin brought his dad and brother along to fish with captain Justin Bowles, followed by a lunch at the newly renovated Southside Cafe in Slidell.
The Empire South Pass Tarpon Rodeo invited Dose of the Coast down the road to help kick off their weekend rodeo festivities! FIVE families, most of which applied through the Mary Bird Perkins Cancer Center in Gonzales, experienced true coastal Louisiana hospitality down in Empire, Louisiana. Guests arrived at the J-Bar lodge Tuesday night, were treated to a delicious BBQ dinner, woke up Wednesday to a buffet breakfast, fished for 5.5 hours, and came back to the dock just in time for lunch. Everyone went home with a new igloo cooler, courtesy of the rodeo board, filled with fish fillets. It was an adventure-packed day filled with good food and great people.
Ms Lisa and her family had a great time fishing with Captain Jeremy of Waltrips Saltwater Guide Service in Lake Charles. They stayed overnight at “Cissie by the Sea”, an adorable cabin on Calcasieu Lake. Ms Lisa has been kicking Leukemia’s butt for a few years and is very deserving of a little weekend getaway! Her son Brodie is also a volunteer for the Dose of the Coast Redfish Series and even helped name the organization when it was founded! We were happy to send them for a Dose of the Coast and are very grateful to all who have volunteered and donated to make this trip possible.
Past Fundraising Events
Anglers compete in the Dose of the Coast Redfish rodeo each year to raise funds for our organization. Photos below are from our 2019 event at Delta Marina in Empire, Louisiana. A portion of each entry fee is donated to Dose of the Coast and the remainder of the entry fee is paid out as cash prize to the winning anglers.
